Tammy K. Scholl                                               Executive Director

Tammy SchollTammy accepted the position of Executive Director of V.O.I.C.E., Inc. in April 2001.  In her role as head of the agency she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the various departments and for guiding the agency as it seeks to offer the highest quality service to our customers. Her past experience includes several years as a Job Coach for the Arnold Center, an American Sign Language Instructor for Bay City and Essexville Community Education Programs and a full-time mom to 4 children. Under Tammy’s guidance and vision, the agency has seen phenomenal growth over the years of her tenure. Tammy is a graduate of the Michigan School for the Deaf.

David A. Scholl, AASN, CETS                         Director of Marketing & Development

David SchollAs Director of Marketing & Development, David is responsible for researching and implementing new programs and revenue streams for the agency in order to allow for program expansion. He brings to V.O.I.C.E., Inc. a wealth of experience. Some of his previous positions include Paramedic, Sheriff’s Deputy, and Volunteer Fireman. Following a successful 23 year career in the United States Army, during which he held several high level leadership positions, David attended Davenport University where he earned his degree as a Graduate Nurse.  In 2003, he accepted a position at V.O.I.C.E., Inc. as the Coordinator of the newly formed Employment Services department. He then was made Director of Community Services continuing to supervise the staff within the Employment Services Department and taking on the added responsibility of overseeing the fledgling Home Staffing Department.  Once both departments became self-sustaining, David was promoted to his current position.

James K. Leggett, MA                                           Employment Services Coordinator

Heading up the Employment Services Department, Jim provides direct client services in the areas of employment counseling, client needs assessment, employment preparation, and job development/placement. He also oversees on-site job training and job coaching.  Jim has over 30 years of experience in the human services field and holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from South Dakota State University.

Colleen Rhinehart, BEI 1                                           In-House Staff Interpreter

Colleen RhinehartAs our in-house interpreter, Colleen provides English to Sign Language and Sign Language to English translation primarily for our Director and the Employment Services Department. She joined V.O.I.C.E., Inc. in January of 2010. A native of Michigan, Colleen has been involved with the Deaf community since 1999 when she met her significant other, who is Deaf. She began learning American Sign Language from him and from other community members until she decided to enter the Interpreter Training Program at Mott Community College where she held the position of president of the ASL Club from 2008-2010. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Sign Language Interpreting in May 2010. Colleen is currently enrolled at Baker College in Flint working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

Amanda Anderson
Employment Services Assistant

Amanda Anderson

Amanda provides assistance to the Employment Services Coordinator in the areas of intake interviews, on-line job prospecting and application submission, community based assessments, and reporting requirements. A native of Tawas, Amanda now resides in Chesaning while she attends Mott Community College in the American Sign Language Interpreting program.

Amber Cooper
Home Staffing Personnel Manager

Amber CooperAmber creates and maintains schedules, and oversees the personnel actions of the direct care workers within the Home Staffing Department. Amber began her employment with V.O.I.C.E. in 2005 as a Job Coach providing individualized supports to assist a gentleman with severe disabilities in maintaining his status as an equal participant in the competitive labor force. Four months later, she became the first regular Direct Care Worker assisting the same individual maintain an independent lifestyle within his own home. In 2008, Amber was promoted to Staffing Coordinator. In 2010, she transferred to her current position, but remains a valuable resource for the current Staffing Coordinator. Amber graduated from Delta Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science.

Jeremy Tomczak                                               Staffing Coordinator

Jeremy was a restaurant manager for a major corporation for 7 years before starting at V.O.I.C.E., Inc. as a direct care worker. Within 6 months, he was promoted to Lead Staff at a home. One year later, he was promoted to Staffing Coordinator Assistant and then eventually Staffing Coordinator. He takes pride in helping advance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. He believes and promoted continued education and training for himself and the V.O.I.C.E. direct care staff. His main goal is to ensure that individuals with disabilities are happy and live their lives to their fullest extent possible.

Staci Garcia                                                      Accountant

Staci Garcia

Keeping close track of the agency's finances and carefully stewarding our resources are the main duties performed by Staci. She has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and finance from Tiffin University in Ohio. Staci is currently attending Davenport University pursuing a Master's Degree in Business Administration in Accounting/Finance.

Jolene Howden                                                 Receptionist/Advocate

Jolene Howden

The first cheerful voice you hear when you call in is Jolene's! With the agency since 2002, Jolene has become a strong advocate for the rights of the Deaf and other people with disabilities.  She has developed a large network of support and is well-versed in applicable laws, suchas the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Michigan Handicappers Civil Rights Act and the Deaf Persons' Interpreters Act.

Mary Weiss                                                          Training/Records

Mary Weiss

Mary has a long history with V.O.I.C.E.  She first started with us as an Interpreter in 2001 and in 2003 she moved to Job Coach in the Employment Services department, later taking on the role of an Employment Services Specialist. She left the agency for family reasons but returned to us in 2010 as our Training and Records Specialist responsible for scheduling and evaluating all training for our Home Staff personnel.  Mary is the daughter of Deaf parents and has strong ties to the Deaf community.
